Summary.
Hypophysectomized hens and hens treated with a pituitaryinhibiting drug were injected with a partially purified preparation of avian pituitary glands. Ovarian weight and follicle size were measured, and also oviduct weight as an indicator of ovarian endocrine activity. Thyroid stimulation was detected by a histological study. It was demonstrated that the preparation used contained all or most of the gonadotrophin and thyrotrophin activity of the original acetone-dried material.
