Trials were conducted in which virgin female guinea-pigs were inoculated intravaginally with Vibrio fetus var. venerealis during the follicular and luteal phases of the reproductive cycle, during induced and natural oestrus and following the intramuscular injection of progesterone. In all trials, the results gave evidence of transitory infection, but failed to indicate any gross or microscopic changes in the reproductive system attributable to V. fetus var. venerealis infection.
