Summary. Decapsulated adult rat testes were assessed for their capacity to produce testosterone and 5α-dihydrotestosterone when incubated in the presence of oestradiol-17β for 3 h. Concentrations of 10−6 and 10−8 m-oestradiol-17β had no significant effect on the production of these hormones and did not alter the capacity of the testes to respond to 100 i.u. hCG in vitro. It is suggested that oestradiol-17β does not directly affect acute regulation of testicular steroidogenesis in the adult rat.
Reproduction is committed to supporting researchers in demonstrating the impact of their articles published in the journal.
The two types of article metrics we measure are (i) more traditional full-text views and pdf downloads, and (ii) Altmetric data, which shows the wider impact of articles in a range of non-traditional sources, such as social media.
